Back to school season means more events, more meetings, and let's be honest: it helps to dress for the occasion! I recently refreshed my fall wardrobe with Stitch Fix and here are my top recommendations for optimizing your Fix.

If you've never used Stitch Fix before, I give a very detailed description and suggestions for your first Fix here: Stitch Fix Outfits Review and Tips for Your Best Fix.

Expert Picks, Just for You

I have been using Stitch Fix now for over a decade now. Typically, I do about 1 Fix a year and I can honestly say that I still have probably 80-90% of the pieces I have gotten over the years. I love them so much and continue to wear them regularly. They send me clothing that I really like and that I will actually wear. Plus, the clothes I kept haven't really gone out of style for me. The pieces Stitch Fix sends me have become key pieces to my wardrobe.

A Stitch Fix personal stylist will hand-select items based on your style profile, fit, body type, budget, so every piece you receive is curated just for you. Update your wardrobe, find that perfect outfit, and receive choices tailored to make shopping effortless and enjoyable.

Transitioning From Summer to Fall

Living in Florida, I don't have a "fall wardrobe". Fall can be hot, or fall can be cool. We just never know! It's important to have pieces that are versatile and can go either way. From my most recent Fix, I realized that texture of the fabric can be a great way to transition from summer to fall. For instance, they sent me the striped sleeveless sweater (above). The fabric feels fall since it's a sweater material, but it's still nice and cool.

The red jumper above is linen and typically you'd think "summer" because it's made of that fabric, but since it is that beautiful rust color, it perfectly goes into wearing it to fall. I love an all-in-one piece, too. Not all of the back-to-school events require a dress, so this is a way to be comfortable and stylish but only have to do one piece. The jumper is definitely not something I would have ever picked for myself, but it's been such a great piece.

The rust colored shorts are a fall color, but an option that will still be nice and cool. These shorts are tailored and look really nice, so I can dress them up or down. Paired with the beautiful sandals they sent me (seen with the red jumper and the striped sweater top), it makes me feel like I've put effort into my outfit without being over the top and still being comfortable. I don't want to be in workout clothes for going to Meet the Teacher or helping at the school. So, these options have been really awesome options for me to feel like I put forth some effort!

My Favorite Daughter Collection

As the wife of a teacher/coach, I see the work and dedication the teaching profession takes! That's why I love that Stitch Fix is collaborating with My Favorite Daughter for a line curated for moms and teachers! Also, this back-to-school season is made possible by who? MOMS! So, I love this way of treating ourselves to some comfortable and stylish clothes celebrating the season. In a word, the collection is: comfort. So, whether you're heading back to the classroom or wanting to do school drop off in style, definitely check this collection out.

Your First Fix

You sign up through the Stitch Fix website for free. Then, set up your Stitch Fix account style profile by answering a lot of questions about your personal style and your body type (it's worth it) in a style quiz. Then you choose how often you want to receive shipments. You can set them to auto send at any frequency or just manually select dates as you want them. Manually selecting dates is what I do. There is no commitment required.

When you have a stitch scheduled in the calendar (for example you chose to have one sent to you on November 30th), you will be charged a $20 styling fee. (I've noticed lately that the fee says "it's on us" meaning that it's waved. So, look out for that when you login! That $20 is applied to your final purchase though so it's not wasted money. Your stylist sends up to 8 items based on your requests. You can ask for a specific item, wardrobe essentials, price preferences, or describe an event you need outfit inspiration for.

Free Try-Ons & Easy Returns

With Stitch Fix, you "Try Before You Buy". After you try your new clothes on in the comfort of your own home, you have 3 days to make your selection. Purchase what you want and return the items you don't want. Included in your shipment is a return shipping bag with a label so there is no charge to you to return items. Free shipping! Simply place unwanted items in the included bag, seal, attach pre-paid labels, drop it off at the post office, and you're done. Side note: I definitely recommend leaving your stylist feedback on items you choose to not keep. This will help with your stylist with your second box if you choose to order one in the future.
